“Michael Brown plays and thinks like a composer. I am deeply impressed by this composer-pianist’s inquisitive mind and refreshing spirit.” — Sir András Schiff

The third season of Sir András Schiff Selects draws to a close, showcasing inspiring young artists on the cusp of international careers. Sir András has personally chosen each pianist, who will give recitals at 92Y and leading musical capitals of Europe. Winner of a 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant, Michael Brown has been described by The New York Times as a “young piano visionary.” A native New Yorker, he is equally committed as a pianist and composer; His 92Y recital debut reflects his interest in interweaving the classics with contemporary works and his own compositions. For his 92Y debut, he “threads” together one of his works with the music of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Bernstein.
