Margarita Rovenskaya, Piano; Elly Toyoda, Violin at Cornelia St. Cafe (Site)

Music for Piano and Violin. Join us for an evening of Chopin Impromptus, Debussy Images, Mozart and Brahms Piano and Violin Sonatas, and Gershwin Porgy and Bess!

MARGARITA ROVENSKAYA AND ELLY TOYODA

Named an “Uprising Young Musician” by Asahi Shimbun Newspaper, Elly made her debut at age 14 at Osaka Symphony Hall. An avid supporter of contemporary music, she was appointed concertmistress for the New Music for Orchestra project at Yale; was a finalist of the Woolsey Hall Competition performing Benjamin Britten’s Violin Concerto; appeared on programs at the National Sawdust, New York; and has premiered works at the Norfolk, Lucerne, and Talis Festivals. She holds her Bachelor’s degree from Oberlin Conservatory, her Master’s degree from the Yale School of Music, and is currently earning her Doctorate degree at Rutgers University.

Prizewinner in the Mary Smart International Concerto Competition, Westminster Piano Concerto Competition, and Connecticut International Young Artist Competition, Margarita Rovenskaya has performed recitals at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall as an American Fine Arts Festival winner, at Steinway Hall, and as part of the Manchester Music Festival chamber series. She holds her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Oberlin Conservatory, her Master’s degree from NYU, and is earning her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from Rutgers University.
