Laurence Hobgood is known for his dazzling piano technique and a signature style of composing and arranging. He got his start in Chicago where he worked for many years with Von Freeman, Wilbur Campbell, Eddie Johnson and, of course, vocalist Kurt Elling with whom he collaborated closely for over 20 years. Based in New York for the last several years, Hobgood has been focusing on his own various projects including a classic piano trio.
