Kenny Barron has performed with likes of James Moody, Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, Yusef Lateef, Buddy Rich, Stan Getz and Ron Carter. In 1980 he co-lead the group Sphere with Charlie Rouse, Buster Williams and Ben Riley and set up his own trio and quintet. Originally a mainstream pianist, Kenny Barron has developed into a highly original creator of post bop jazz writing several compositions which a have achieved the status of jazz standards: Voyage and Phantoms.
