Simone Porter, Violin & Hsin-I Huang, Piano at 92Y
Friday March 10, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm$25.00
The exciting young violinist Simone Porter has been hailed for her virtuosity, lush sound, and probing intellect.
She joins us for her 92NY debut in our newly renovated Buttenwieser Hall, showcasing the talent that has been making both audiences and critics take notice. Her bold solo set includes the New York premiere of Drishti – a work written for her by acclaimed Indian-American composer Reena Esmail, and named for a focus concept in yoga – and Esa-Pekka Salonen’s joyful, Pierrot Lunaire-inspired Lachen Verlernt, a piece that has become a contemporary touchstone of the solo violin repertoire. Porter and Hsin-I close the program with Franck’s A-Major Sonata, reflecting the range of talent and viewpoint of this compelling young artist.
Concert available for viewing online for 72 hours from time of broadcast.
