Silent Clowns: Forgotten Clowns, 35mm Rarities at Bruno Walter Auditorium

The Silent Clowns Film Series is New York’s longest-running regularly scheduled silent film showcase. Our programming reaches the serious film buff by including rarely-screened titles and rare prints, yet it also introduces kids and new audiences to the classics of the silent screen. Screenings feature live piano accompaniment by MoMA’s Ben Model, with an introduction and Q&A by film historians Model and Steve Massa.

This salute to some very funny comics who have gotten lost in the shuffle with the passage of time is from the collection of the Library of Congress. Our headliners are Neal Burns in Inoculating Hubby (1916) and Charles Arling in Too Much Parcel Post (1913). The team of Pokes & Jabs star in DEVILED CRABS (1917), as well as Marcel Perez in You’re Next (1919). Rounding out the bill are Wanda Wiley in Queen of Aces (1925) and Charley Chase is Dog Shy (1926).
