Alexei Volodin, Piano
The composers represented in Promenades of Paris–Fauré, Franck, and Debussy–worked together and heard each other’s music in fin de siècle Paris, linking the end of Romanticism with the beginnings of the modern era. The musicians who premiered or transcribed these pieces for cello knew and worked with the composers. This program connects these turn-of-the-century, avant-garde pieces and presents a fresh interpretation by cellist Misha Quint and pianist Alexei Volodin.
