Double bassist Dominic Law is enjoying a multi-faceted career as a performing and teaching artist. He has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Juilliard Orchestra, and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. He also appeared in a collaboration concert at the BBC Proms 2019 between the Juilliard Orchestra and the Royal Academy of Music as principal bassist. As a solo performer, Mr. Law enjoys transcribing repertoire from different instruments onto the double bass, particularly those inspired by Chinese folk music. He hopes to use this as an opportunity to preach Chinese folk music to Western audiences, and expand the double bass repertoire along the way. Mr. Law has also taken secondary viola da gamba lessons with Sarah Cunningham as he is realizing his interest in early Baroque music.
