The Philadelphia Orchestra at NJPAC; Jan Lisieck, Piano (Site)

Friday March 15, 2019, 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

$29 – $99

Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Fabulous Philadelphians in Schubert’s great and noble Ninth Symphony, and young pianist Jan Lisiecki plays Mendelssohn.

The Philadelphia Orchestra – music’s most sensuous sound – was cultivated under Leopold Stokowski, Eugene Ormandy, Riccardo Muti and now Yannick Nézet-Séguin. This dynamic music director has been called “the greatest generator of energy on the international podium” by London’s Financial Times and “a passionate interpreter of burning sincerity” by BBC Music magazine.

Experience this sonic force in Schubert’s fiendishly challenging Symphony No. 9, dubbed “The Great” for its majesty. Wunderkind pianist Jan Lisiecki will perform Mendelssohn’s bravura Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, and rounding out the program will be Haydn’s overture to his opera L’isola disabitata (The Deserted Island).

Join for Bank of America Classical Overtures, held one hour prior to this concert. This interactive presentation is hosted by Maestro George Marriner Maull of New Jersey’s Discovery Orchestra and is free to ticket holders.
