The Harlem Opera at Richard Rodgers Amphitheater; James Davis, Jr. Piano (Site)

Sunday July 22, 2018, 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm

Free

One and all are cordially invited to The Harlem Opera Festival! Two free nights — Sunday, July 15th and Sunday July 22nd — featuring the next generation of great opera singers.

Tonight’s bill will include Carami Hilaire, Soprano, and Daniel Rich, Baritone — recent participants in the Harlem Opera Theater’s annual vocal competition.

Carami Hilaire, Soprano

Carami Hilaire is a soulful soprano from Brooklyn, New York. A graduate of the Professional Studies program at the Mannes School of Music, she recently performed the role of Tosca with Regina Opera and will perform the role again in the fall with New Jersey Verismo Opera.

Daniel Rich, Baritone

This graduate of Morgan State University is currently a graduate student at Manhattan School of Music. His recent career highlights include a performance with Frostburg Opera as King Balthazar in Amahl and The Night Visitors by Menotti, and premiering the role of Surnani in the operetta, Qadar by Tony Small.

Both singers will be accompanied by Mr. James Davis, Jr. on piano.

One of the most recognized emerging music directors, James Davis Jr. has proven himself to be an artistic leader who captivates musicians, audiences, and communities with his deep passion for music.

Each Harlem Opera Festival evening will precede the Sunday evening performance of the Classical Theatre of Harlem’s presentation of “Antigone” at 8:30 pm.

Come for the opera…stay for the play!
