Recitals by Two Winners of Liszt International Piano Competitions, at Yamaha Artist Services (Site)

Two winners of Liszt competitions, pianists Joseph Kingma and Yi Zhong, will perform for the NY chapter of the American Liszt Society.

Program to include works by Liszt, Berlioz-Liszt, Granados, Ponce and Rachmaninoff.

About the artists:

Pianist Joseph Kingma, winner of the American Liszt Society’s 2017 Liszt International Piano Competition, enjoys an active national and international career as a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. As a recitalist, his solo invitations included recital series in Chicago, Toledo, Minneapolis, Orlando and Montreal, among others. He has also performed with many orchestras nationally, including the Monroe Symphony, Manassas Symphony, Palm Beach Atlantic Symphony, Spring Hill Orchestra, and Brazos Chamber Orchestra. His performances have also been featured on Chicago’s classical music radio station, 98.7 WFMT. Joseph is the Coordinator of the Keyboard Division and Assistant Professor of Piano at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

A native of China, pianist Yi Zhong, a prize winner of the 2016 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, was praised by the critics for his “virtuosity and sensitivity” (Augsburger-Algemeine, Germany). He is also a laureate of the Brussels International Piano Competition, Camerata International Music Competition in New York and top winner of the Yamaha Competition in China. He is frequently invited to perform at prestigious international festivals and has given solo recitals and chamber music concerts in the United States, Europe and China. He has appeared at New York City’s Lincoln Center, Isaac Stern Auditorium and Weill recital hall at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center and Steinway Hall, as well as Neuburger Kongregationsaal in Germany, Associazione Centro Russo di Scienza e Cultura in Rome, Italy and Tai Po Civic Center in Hong Kong. This coming March he will release his debut CD on the Spanish label KNS. He is an artist in residence at Changchun University in China, currently residing in Boston.
