BIOGRAPHIES

James Yang, a nineteen-year-old violinist, is currently a sophomore at Columbia University. He started playing the violin at age 7. In 2009, he was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center as a Grand Prize winner of INPASS Competition. James has also performed in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as one of the winners of New York Music Competition. In 2013, he won the Paganini Concerto Competition at Juilliard Pre-college and performed with the Juilliard Pre-college Symphony in Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Lincoln Center.

Born in 1998, cellist Hannah Ko is a sophomore at Columbia College, and a former student of Marion Feldman at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division. She also studied with Curtis Institute of Music graduate Gloria Kim. At the age of 8, Hannah began pursuing her musical journey, and now, 10 years later, Hannah has won first prize in numerous international competitions, and she has also performed at famous recital halls all around the world. Hannah has also has been a part of many notable groups including the New York Youth Symphony, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division’s Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, NAfME’s All Eastern Orchestra, New Jersey All State Orchestra, North Jersey Region I Orchestra, the Good Neighbor Ensemble, and the Summit Music Festival Orchestra. With the New York Youth Symphony, she got the honor of touring and performing at Argentina, collaborating with the New York Public Theater in the production of “The Odyssey” at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, and performing at the Tribeca Rooftop for an award ceremony, hosted by Alec Baldwin, honoring Alan Gilbert and Roy Niederhoffer.

Danny Kim is a sophomore at Columbia College planning to major in Music and East Asian Studies. He began studying classical piano at the age of 5, and continued pursuing this passion into high school, enrolling at the Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute at Crossroads School. After graduation, Danny spent time in Seoul, South Korea exploring the arts scene, attending music festivals, and performing recitals. Since starting at Columbia, Danny studies privately with Manhattan School of Music faculty, Phillip Kawin, and has begun jazz piano studies under Columbia faculty, Bruce Barth.
