With playing hailed as “gorgeous…positively ravishing, a marvel of emotional maturity and assurance” (San Francisco Classical Voice) and praised for its “true chamber-music making, and a natural, honest sense of communication” (The Strad Magazine), New York-based violinist Kenneth Renshaw is a performing artist who is widely recognized for his emotional depth and intensity of performances.

Kenneth first gained international attention in 2012 after winning First Prize and special prizes in the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition. He was subsequently named a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition of Belgium and First Prize winner of the Manhattan International Music Competition.

He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras around the world, including the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Lithuanian National Orchestra, the China Philharmonic, the Jenaer Philharmoniker, the Staatskapelle Weimar, and the California Symphony. He has also performed recitals to critical acclaim at major European venues such as the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele in Germany.

As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with some of the most highly respected classical musicians of our time, including pianist Leon Fleisher, violinist Pamela Frank, violist Kim Kashkashian, and flutist Sir James Galway at venues such as the Caramoor and Ravinia festivals, among others.

Equally passionate about teaching, Kenneth is the Starling Foundation Violin Teaching Fellow at the Juilliard School in New York, where he serves as Teaching Assistant to violinist Itzhak Perlman and violin pedagogue Li Lin. He has been a guest teaching artist at music institutions in Sao Paulo Brazil, San Francisco, and Lake Champlaine (Vermont).

Kenneth is interested in finding new ways to musically communicate with modern audiences through multiple artistic mediums, resulting in recent collaborations with visionary pianist/filmmaker Yang Bao on films and multidisciplinary performance showcases involving music, dance, film, and other mediums.

Kenneth holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Juilliard School and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree, continuing as an honored recipient of the Kovner Fellowship. His major teachers include Itzhak Perlman, Li Lin, Catherine Cho, and Donald Weilerstein.
