German pianist Paulina Simkin and Metropolitan Opera singer Carla Jablonski set paintings by Ludwig Kirchner, Gustav Klimt & Co. to music at this year’s Golden Fleece Gala in NYC on October 5.

What do paintings sound like? A question German pianist Paulina Simkin and Metropolitan Opera singer Carla Jablonski set to explore with their unique program at the Golden Fleece Gala at Neue Galerie, NY, on October 5th.

Inspired by the current Ludwig Kirchner exhibition and Neue Galerie’s Gustav Klimt collection, Ms. Simkin curated a diverse program with pieces ranging from Bach, Brahms to Strauss and Satie for solo piano. An additional highlight will be her performance together with Metropolitan Opera singer and mezzo soprano Carla Jablonski. The two Juilliard School alumni will en-chant their audience with works by Bizet, Massenet and Donizetti amongst others in accordance with the “Caravaggio & Bernini” exhibition happening at the same time at The Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, which the Golden Fleece Gala raises funds for.

About the artists:

With her Fulbright Fellowship, pianist Paulina Simkin received her Master of Music in Piano Performance at The Juilliard School in New York and has been a regular on some of the world’s biggest concert stages ever since including the Berliner Philharmonie, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Alice Tully Hall in New York. In March she celebrated her debut at Carnegie Hall. An avid chamber musician Ms. Simkin performs with musicians such as violinist Eric Silberger (New York Philharmonic), cellist Leonid Gorkhov (Hermitage Trio) and mezzo-soprano Carla Jablonski (Metropolitan Opera).

Hailed as a “vibrant stage personality” matched with an “appealingly burnished tone” (New York Times), mezzo-soprano Carla Jablonski’s vocal versatility has captivated audiences both on the opera and concert stage. Ms. Jablonski was most rec ently praised for inhabiting the title role in Heartbeat Opera’s production of Dido and Aeneas with “impressive sophistication” and this season she returns to The Metropolitan Opera for their productions of Samson et Dalila, Mefistofele, and Otello. Ms. Jablonski received her Master’s Degree from The Juilliard School.
The Golden Fleece Gala is a yearly special fundraising reception to benefit the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna. Held at Neue Galerie, New York, 1048 Fifth Avenue, on October 5, at 6:30pm.
