Decoda, alumni of the acclaimed Ensemble Connect, return to Carnegie Hall with works for winds, strings, and piano—sometimes all together! The instrumental interplay in J. C. Bach’s Quintet is invigorating, while the gorgeous melodies and exuberant virtuosity of Mozart’s Quintet makes it a chamber music favorite. Webern’s arrangement of Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony sheds new light on a 20th-century masterpiece, and Thomas Adès’s daring Catch begins with the clarinetist playing offstage and walking around the hall before joining the other players.
